CHRIS KNAPP TO SPEAK AT UNIVERSITY OF QUEENSLAND LECTURE SERIES

Chris Knapp has been invited to speak as part of the 2014 Lecture Series at the University of Queensland School of Architecture, hosted at the State Library of Queensland and the Asia Pacific Design Library. He will join UQ Academic Mathew Aitchison in a dialogue about prefabrication and the future of architecture.

The End of Prefabrication

Chris Knapp's essay "The End of Prefabrication" was recently published in the September 2013 issue of Architectural Review Asia Pacific

Rather than argue for the elimination of the practice of prefabrication as the the title might first suggest, this polemic asserts that architects can further develop and refine their toolkit, and expand it to include bespoke construction that is mass-customised and value-rich.

Robotic Fabrication at Bond University

Chris Knapp and colleagues at Bond University hosted a 2-day workshop presented by the Association for Robots in Architecture (http://www.robotsinarchitecture.org/). This technology represents the future trajectory for architecture to combine conceptual, cultural, and technical complexity through a fabrication strategy where the architect is both designer and builder.
