BLEACH FESTIVAL

Chris Knapp has spent the past several weeks organising and leading a team of students (now alumni) of the Bond Architecture program to design and implement the "String Pavilions" for the 2nd annual Gold Coast BLEACH FESTIVAL at Coolangatta. The project forms the central architectural element for the festival hub at Queen Elizabeth Park.  The team also developed the site master plan to organise the festival infrastructure.

The team developed the pavilion design originally in a workshop led by AR-MA during the final semester of 2012 at Bond - part of a design studio entitled "Five Civic Architectures for the Distributed City."

The festival runs from 22 Feb to 3 March 2013. See you there!

CAADRIA Singapore 2013

Chris Knapp will be presenting a paper at the 2013 CAADRIA conference at the National University of Singapore in May.  The paper explores the use of digital fabrication and custom concrete work in the new Soheil Abedian School of Architecture at Bond University by CRAB (Sir Peter Cook and Gavin Robotham). Armadillo Wall at Rabbit&Cocoon

The Armadillo Wall - an experiment in digital fabrication toward resolving complex interactive building enclosures - played the role of backdrop for a fashion show at the Gold Coast on 21 September 2012. You can see a video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QCOHvqc5hw
